You see Jared Smithe lying in an alleyway, a knife wound in his belly. He is still, and then his hands grasp his belly, blood rises from the ground and returns to his belly, as he slides up the wall to a standing position. A knife shoots into the wound in his belly, Randolph Mortimer holding it. And then the knife is pulled out, leaving no wound. The two separate and begin to walk away from each other backwards.
Scenes flash before you all in reverse: Sinjun Smithe rising from the grave, living in his family's cellar. Vinson Waggoner studying book after book about the Monkey Paw and Indian beliefs. You see a woman with red hair studying plants and then being eaten by them. A boy barely 18 with brown hair being ripped apart by a vampire and then rising from the dead. A woman stabbing her husband over and over again and than a creature so fowl it could only be called a demon cackling in glee. Countless images rush by you quickly, each just as horrifying as the other. People die before you, bodies pile, and insanity throughout the earth grows.
Then the image swirls to a small hut deep in the jungles of India. A half-naked crone stumbles into the hut, dragging a screaming monkey. Whispers fill the room as she ties the monkey down to a table. "Baba Yaga, Baba Yaga". A knife flashes in the air and the monkey howls. And then we see the monkey living with other monkeys, eating banannas, running with its brothers. Thena mother monkey carrying a baby monkey on its back. And finally a female monkey backed up against a rock wall, a dark shadow falling upon her, her features scrunched up into a terrified face as a human hand reaches for her. Bat wings then fly by.
Baba Yaga's face then appears in front "You try to undo my work, do you my pretty? I don't think so."
Time reverses, now going forward. A monkey frolics in the jungle and dies of old age with both paws. A woman happy with her husband ends her days with him, the two old and of natural causes. A brown haired boy leads a revolution against a tyrant, dethroning him, taking over the kingdom and bringing peace to the area. A red haired woman invents a new medicine from her plants. Vinson Waggoner studies book after book, this time of a different subject. He travels to Hatii and then returns to London. The Smithes live in peace, no one lives in their cellar, their family happy. However for every good deed or incident you see, another one ends worse than it did in the prior images. Men who died before as a result of the paw, rise up and kill countless beings. Evil women who were imprisoned as a result of the paw, destroy countless lives. For every thing that was changed to be better, there is an equal scene where without the paw present it is worse.
Then the image goes dark. A form in the darkness lumbers slowly forward, it's vacant eyes staring at you, its rotting flesh falling off. The zombie lurches towards you, and you are helpless to prevent it.
A bright flash across your eyesight and the zombie is gone, replaced by a cobblestone street. On it lies a mummified monkey paw. A nice shoe steps down next to it, as does a cane. A back gloved hand reaches down and slowly picks it up. It is held for a few seconds, turned over, and than placed in a coat pocket.
