As the lights slowly dim & the crowd hushes there is a commotion in the orchestra pit that catches everyone’s attention. At first you think the show must be using a more shocking opening to begin the performance, and then you suddenly see someone stand up in the middle of the pit that you recognize as the most wanted person in the Verse, who is also a personal enemy of your entire crew! Plus they have a Laser pistol.
Somehow you must get yourself down to the pit before your enemy can escape. Naturally they will have accomplices, and it will be a challenge because others in the audience will attempt to capture them for the bounty or the general audience will think people rushing towards the pit from all parts of the theatre is part of the play and will not attempt to get out of the line of fire plus the curtain is going up and the stage is filled with mirrored set pieces and multiple actors next to the pit!
Newcomers are always welcomed in my games! Familiarity with this game systems, the Firefly TV series or Serenity movie is suggested, but not required as the rules will be covered. All players will start with a play-tested Veteran or Big-Damn Hero level character, plus I will provide miniatures, background music & detailed terrain. Stones of Fate consists of 78 cards and 20 stones in four colors. Each game uses only a subset of the 78 card deck so no two games are ever the same. Stones of Fate is played with a 9 card spread laid face down on the table. Players compete to try to win these cards by placing stones next to "zones" on the cards' borders. Each player takes two actions on their turn. These can be any combination of Peek at a card, Place or Move one of their own stones, Flip over a card to determine who wins it.
Certain cards also have special abilities that activate when they are flipped or when they are won. These can really drive the strategy of the game. With these additional abilities you can give negative value cards to your opponents, win extra cards on your turn, or even re-arrange your opponent's fate stones!
